The White Lotus star Connie Britton has addressed a fan theory that suggests her role is related to Laura Dern's unseen character.

The actress played the part of Nicole Mossbacher in season one of the hit HBO anthology series, while Dern provided the telephone voice of Abby, Dom's (Michael Imperioli) estranged wife, in season two.

A fan theory suggests that the two characters could be sisters, and could possibly appear together in season three – though it's the first that Britton has heard of it.

"Oooh, I've never heard that before," she told Variety, while also expressing keenness in a return for the next season.

"Of course I would [return]," Britton continued. "[Creator] Mike [White] is someone I'd admired for a long time in my career, and I was fortunate enough to work with him on Beatrice at Dinner, which he wrote.

"I think he's a genius, but also a kind genius. I have loved collaborating with him and I'll say yes to him 'til the end of time."

Here's hoping we see (potential) sisters Nicole and Abby on screen in season three.

The White Lotus was renewed for a third run last year ahead of the second season's finale in December, with the new episodes set to focus on staff and guests at another White Lotus hotel.

"There's no place I'd rather work than HBO and there's no people I'd rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner and their incredible team," White said at the time.

"I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on The White Lotus."

The White Lotus airs on HBO Max in the US, and on Sky Atlantic, Sky Go and NOW in the UK.
