It is Girl Scout cookie time here in Indiana.

Local troops held a cookie rally Friday to learn the entrepreneurial skills needed for a successful cookie season.

The scouts practiced their sales pitch, learned to make change, set sales goals, gained product knowledge and discussed safety measures. Games, crafts and role play helped each scout hone their skill set.

Most scouts agreed the best part of the night was tasting the different cookies.

The new Raspberry Rally, a thin, crispy cookie infused with raspberry flavor and coated with chocolate, was the number one cookie tasted. However, Hope Taylor and Elizabeth Dodd from Troop #057078 agreed the Adventurefuls cookie was the most delicious.

When you purchase a box of Girl Scout cookies, you are offsetting the expense of the individual scout to participate in troop activities. One troop at the rally is saving their proceeds to spend overnight at the Indianapolis Zoo. You also support the world’s largest entrepreneurial program for girls and help them earn their financial literacy badges.

Seven different cookies complete the lineup this year. The varieties include the new Raspberry Rally, Adventurefuls, Thin Mints, Samoas, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, Lemon-Ups, S’mores and Toffee-tastic. Each box costs $6. Customers can purchase cookies online, at booths or directly from a local girl scout — text COOKIES to 59618 for purchase information and the latest Girl Scout news.
