Former Nevada Lt. Gov. Lisa Cano Burkhead has joined the Las Vegas-based organization Baby's Bounty as an adviser.
The non-profit announced Tuesday that Burkhead will work with other staff members on initiatives and projects across Nevada.
"Her deep knowledge of the state and the issues our families face is invaluable as we continue to find ways to reach every Nevadan in need," Kelly Maxwell, executive director of Baby's Bounty, said in a statement.
Baby's Bounty says its goal is to broaden services across the state, including through diaper banks and mobile diaper services in Northern Nevada.
Appointed by then-Gov. Steve Sisolak to serve as lieutenant governor in late 2021, Burkhead won the Democratic primary for the office last year but lost in the general election to Republican challenger Stavros Anthony.
Burkhead was a longtime educator prior to taking office, having worked as a teacher and a principal in the Clark County School District.
"Nevada is my home, and my work with Baby’s Bounty will allow me to go on connecting with citizens across the state," she said in a statement. "As I've [traveled] across Nevada and connected with communities both large and small, I've seen our families in need. It's an honor to be able to continue to serve in this way."
