BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A burning vehicle crashed Tuesday evening into a restaurant along U.S. 60 in the Barboursville area, according to Cabell County 911.

Dispatchers say the incident was reported just after 4:30 p.m. at the Fat Patty’s in the 3400 block of U.S. 60.

According to the Barboursville Police Chief, the vehicle was smoking as the driver was on U.S. 60. It experienced a mechanical failure, causing it to accelerate into the building.

The woman driving the burning vehicle placed it in reverse, and it then struck a concrete retaining wall, the chief said.

Some witnesses said it appeared the car rolled backward, and bystanders managed to help the driver out.

There was no immediate report of injuries.

The chief said the incident was an accident, and no charges will be filed. The Ona Volunteer Fire Department provided back up to the Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters say the car’s fuel tank was leaking, and there was fire across much of the parking lot.
