Oregon State University has been named a partner of Walmart's Live Better U education program in partnership with Guild Education, according to a press release.
Frontline associates working at Walmart in Oregon and across the U.S. can earn college degrees and other certifications, with Walmart paying 100% of college tuition, taxes, books, and fees.
According to the release, all part-time and full-time associates have access to Live Better U on their first day working at Walmart.
“We’re creating a path of opportunity for our Oregon associates to grow their careers at Walmart, so they can continue to build better lives for themselves and their families,” said Lorraine Stomski, senior vice president of associate learning and leadership at Walmart. “We’re excited to add Oregon State University to our list of education partners, specifically for their retail management and digital marketing degrees aligned with our growth areas at Walmart.”
Brittany Moxley, a Driver Coordinator at Walmart, from Pendleton, Oregon, is one of the many associates who is currently enrolled in the program. She is currently earning her Supply Chain & Transportation degree from Bellevue University online. "I have worked for Walmart for 10 years and fell in love with transportation. When I realized that I could get a degree with Supply Chain and Transportation, I knew I had to jump on the opportunity to further my education and open new career opportunities.”
“Oregon State University is proud to provide Walmart associates access to a selection of our online programs through the company’s Live Better U program in collaboration with Guild Education,” said Lisa L. Templeton, Associate Provost, Oregon State Ecampus. “Together, we’re expanding opportunities for Walmart associates to learn and grow.”
This is the first and only institution in Oregon where Walmart associates can earn their degree through Live Better U. According to the release, 700 Walmart associates in Oregon are currently enrolled in Live Better U through other universities or colleges in the U.S.
