Monday marked the first day of the Winter Reading challenge that will take place in Lackawanna County Libraries.
The libraries will have reading lists and activities available for every member of the community.
The challenge is available to all ages and Participants can log their reading and earn badges for special giveaways by downloading the free Beanstack app.
Mary Graham, Youth Services Coordinator, spoke with FOX56:
“Our winter reading challenge is under the theme of carnivals and circuses so it's ‘step right up for the greatest winter ever’ and it's a countywide initiative where we’ll all be hosting different carnival-themed programs. This evening we're kicking off our winter challenge for the middle school group with the concession stand, which will be teaching them how to create different carnival food. So they'll be making funnel cake, chocolate covered bananas, and then also be making up giant popcorn using donut holes.”
