Official closures announced after severe weather hits viewing area

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – In view of the severe weather that passed through Baton Rouge and surrounding areas last night, certain area schools have announced closures on Wednesday, January 25.

Diocese of Baton Rouge:

Details: St. John Interparochial School in Plaquemine will be closed Wednesday, January 25, due to Iberville parish closings. Closing is power related as a result of weather.


Iberville Parish School District:

Details: Iberville Parish Schools has experienced a major power outage affecting multiple schools and our central operations. After consulting with the Office of Emergency Preparedness, all Iberville Parish Schools and Offices will be closed Wednesday, January 25, 2023. We currently have no anticipated time of power restoration.


Pointe Coupee Parish School District:

Details: All Pointe Coupee Schools and the District Office will be closed today, January 25,2023 due to power outages throughout the parish.
