Horizon Health nationally recognized for patient care

PARIS, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV) — Horizon Health was recently nationally recognized for its continued dedication to caring for the community through The Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN).

Asked to voluntarily participate in four quality outcomes as a part of the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Program, Horizon Health and other critical access hospitals participated in patient/inpatient safety, outpatient measures, care transitions, and patient engagement.

“It takes a village,” said Rachel Kelley, Horizon Health’s Vice President of Nursing & Chief Nursing Officer. “This recognition is linked to our extraordinary, dedicated staff who are focused on cultivating excellence in patient experience and quality outcomes every patient, every time.”

Out of the 1,360 critical access hospitals nationwide, Horizon Health was recognized for being in the top ten percent and earning the title of High-Achieving HCAHPS Hospital. The HCAHPS is a rating program that represents the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems. The outcomes can be reviewed in comparison to other hospitals in the area, as well as state averages or national averages at Medicare.gov.

Horizon Health’s emergency department was also given recognition for exceptional outpatient care.

“Our staff strive to meet our mission of providing high-quality care, while constantly working to improve our quality of services,” said Amy Arnett, Horizon Health’s Director of Quality. “It is with great enthusiasm that we celebrate meeting and exceeding our quality measures. It truly is a team effort that has helped us achieve a high level of care.”

As a network of 58 small rural Illinois hospitals, ICAHN is committed to collaboratively improving the operations of other member hospitals. ICAHN’s organization is made of Illinois hospitals that have been given a critical access hospital designation through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
