AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that happened Friday afternoon. According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to the 1500 block of Wylds Rd. at around 2 p.m. for a reported shooting. When they arrived, deputies say they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

GROVETOWN, Ga. (WFXG) - The City of Grovetown is canceling its 2023 Spring Fest. In a release sent out Thursday afternoon, the city said it made the decision to cancel the event due to the inclement weather forecast. However, the city says it is partnering with local elementary schools and Columbia County Community Connections to donate 20,000 eggs to youth events. The Easter Bunny and Carol the Carrot will make visits to some Grovetown schools to make up for the cancelation.

The Augusta District Attorney's Office announced Friday that sixty-two-year-old Bill "Wild Bill" Anderson has been found guilty of rape, child molestation, and false imprisonment. The judge sentenced him to life without parole plus thirty years in prison.

According to the sheriff's office, Rodrequez Burnett was meeting with a client at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center Wednesday, Mar. 29. During that meeting, he allegedly went into a closet and took a roll of toilet paper to the inmate. The inmate allegedly took the wrapper off the toilet paper and put it in his clothing before Burnett returned the roll to the closet.

Just after 10 p.m. Mar. 25, deputies responded to American Best Value Inn on Deans Bridge Rd. for a reported shooting. When they arrived, deputies spoke with the victim, who reportedly told them he was walking outside the motel when a man shot him in the hand with an AR-15-style rifle.
