A large swath of Texas especially the South Plains and the Panhandle is due to get clobbered with quite a bit of winter weather today.
The National Weather Service has posted a Winter Storm Warning for much of the Panhandle with four to eight inches of snow possible in and near Amarillo.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the South Plains and the western part of North Texas from noon Tuesday until midnigh, as far west as Graham and Throckmorton.
Snow from 1 inch to several inches is likely in Midland-Odessa and around Pecos and Alpine. Higher amounts at higher elevations.
The immediate Dallas-Fort Worth area is due to get some very chilly rain today but no snow is expected in the DFW area.
