It’s a strange fusion of ramen and cajun boil but some who have visited the newly branded restaurant have been delighted while others are confused.

The Cajun Crab Shack in Floral Park has rebranded to become Kinya Ramen Yakitori. The switch is more of an addition with ramen added to their cajun boils. The restaurant is under the same management according to someone who answered the phone there, who said they have just added ramen to the menu and they are not serving sushi yet.

Their Kinya Ramen has a pork broth with black garlic oil flavor, topped with fish cake, chopped scallions, ginger, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, a seasoned boiled egg and 24k gold. Served with golden noodles. Chicken or pork chashu ($16). Tan Tan Ramen is a mild spicy miso and chicken broth soup with sesame paste, topped with minced pork, bean sprouts, chopped scallions and a seasoned boiled egg. Served with straight noodles ($16). They also have a Spicy Ramen, which is clear chicken broth with spicy garlic paste, topped with fish cake, chopped scallions, sweet corn, bamboo shoots, dried shredded pepper and a seasoned boiled egg. Served with golden noodles. Chicken or pork chashu ($16).

On Google, a local guide said that the two food items were jarring.

“We went for the grand opening here on 1/2/23 with mixed expectations,” they wrote. “First thing that struck us was the mismatch between the crabshack layout with ramen.”

Another gave it five stars saying, “Amazing food amazing service ramen is yummy and broth is fresh nice selection of both seafood boils come here anytime friendly people.”
