Kansas City businesses and restaurants are getting ready for what will be another busy week of sales thanks to the Chiefs playoff success.
"Coming up as people travel in, it turns into a whole different animal," said Eric Tadda, director of marketing for Joe's Kansas City BBQ.
The iconic gas station BBQ joint says they see a 10 to 15% boost in traffic and sales when the Chiefs keep playing.
"We are so blessed to have the Chiefs do these five years in a row," Tadda said. "It is such an economic boost to not just us here in the restaurant sector, but we have people coming from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, then they'll go right here."
Visit KC says last year's AFC Championship game brought in an local economic boost of $13.2 million.
"It stands what we consider our winter here in Kansas City. It extends that season out for us where we see a huge economic boost for it," Tadda said.
The boost comes from Chiefs Kingdom but also visitors. This week, it's Bengals fans who are looking to stuff up before watching the big game.
"It's not Skyline Chili, but Joe's is sort of that staple. When you come to Kansas City, you wanna have BBQ," Tadda said.
Joe's says they have also seen a boost in national shipping sales during the Chiefs' playoff run.
