An inmate at the Jefferson City Correctional Center was charged Tuesday with multiple felonies after allegedly assaulting a DOC officer on July 4, 2021.

Justin F. Johnson, 37, is charged with first-degree assault, three counts of violence to an employee of the DOC and disarming a correctional officer while performing official duty.

The probable cause statement says Johnson hit someone with his fist and foot several times. The statement claims Johnson pushed another person and hit a third.

A court date has not been scheduled. Johnson was found guilty in 2011 for first-degree murder, two counts of armed-criminal action and first degree assault. He was sentenced to 999 years in the DOC in 2012.
