BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) Attending the US Conference of Mayors winter meeting this week, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown has been discussing gun violence with mayors from around the country.

The tide has turned in many cities from solely focusing on criminals to shining light on irresponsible gun makers.

"I was part of a panel discussion on reducing gun violence," said the mayor on WBEN Thursday. "I told them about the lawsuit the city has filed against ghost gun manufacturers as well as gun industry dealers and distributors."

There was a lot of interest in the city's lawsuit according to Mayor Brown. "Our lawsuit was the first of that type in the nation. Many members who heard the discussion, asked to join and make it a class action lawsuit."

Mayor Brown said it is something he plans to discuss with Corporation Counsel Cavette Chambers.
