Dobbs, 44, died Dec. 16.

Dobbs, whose father, Emerson James Dobbs, died in 2021, owned or co-owned commercial properties in Huntington Village, including the building  the 5,870-square-foot space at 313 New York Ave. that was home to the Book Revue. That closed in 2021.

He leaves his wife,Tania, and three children, Emerson James IV, Enzo and Ethan.

One friend wrote on the AL Jacobsen Funeral Home page, “Emerson grew up to be a fine man, loving son, brother and devoted husband, friend and father in the beautiful family he and Tania created. Rest in peace Emerson knowing you lived a too brief but wonderful life and that you will always be loved, missed and never forgotten.”

And another wrote, “Emerson James, Enzo and Ethan, please know that your dad was a man among men. He was always true to his word, and he was there whenever I needed him. As you grow up, you will realize that those qualities are not readily found in all people, but they abounded in your father. Your father was a noble and special soul on this earth who accomplished great things by helping people every day. He helped me countless times during the past decades and always with a smile. Your father is alive through you now, and if you close your eyes, he is standing there with you.”

The service was held at Centerport United Methodist Church.
