Detective Danner may have one cracked murder case under her belt, but in Season 2 of The Afterparty, she’s about to come face to face with another twisty crime.
Created by Christopher Miller (The Last Man on Earth), the 10-episode second season is slated to premiere with two episodes this July, with new installments releasing weekly (see more first photos below).
In its sophomore run, “a wedding is ruined when the groom is murdered and every guest is a suspect,” reads the official description. “Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) returns to help Aniq (Sam Richardson) and Zoë (Zoë Chao) solve whodunnit by questioning family members, star-crossed lovers and business partners, and hearing each suspect’s retelling of the weekend.”
The series will once again examine the murder from multiple angles using various film genres and visuals to share the storytellers’ unique perspectives.
Joining Haddish, Richardson and Chao for Round 2 are Elizabeth Perkins (Weeds), Zach Woods (Silicon Valley), Paul Walter Hauser (Cobra Kai), Poppy Liu (Hacks), Anna Konkle (PEN15), Jack Whitehall (Good Omens), Vivian Wu (Away), John Cho (Selfie) and Ken Jeong (Community).
Miller and Anthony King (Dead to Me, Wet Hot American Summer) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers for Season 2, with Phil Lord also on board as an EP.

I take it we’re getting a puppet episode based on what Sam’s holding. That’ll be fun.
I was wondering what they were going to do with the show after the controversy that occurred with Tiffany Haddish. I wasn’t sure if they were going to try and replace Tiffany. It looks like they are just going to release the show as is and hope people forgot by now. It’s a great show, just unfortunate she was cast. It would’ve been nice if they moved to a new detective in Season 2.
I completely forgot about this show. I still need to watch Season 1.
