Orange County Sheriff’s Department units initiated a pursuit on a gray sedan, possibly a stolen vehicle (unconfirmed) in the area.

The suspect sped along city streets and into Garden Grove before running the red light northbound on Dale Street, colliding into an innocent motorist and sending the suspect vehicle into a gas station pump.

Orange County firefighters at the scene utilized the Jaws of Life to extricate the suspect which took about 15 minutes to complete.

The suspect was transported by ambulance to a local trauma center while the innocent female driver was also sent to a nearby trauma center in unknown condition.

Melissa Ratzlaff witnessed the crash as she was stopped at the intersection on her way home from work when the suspect came barreling through the intersection. She described the moment on camera to Key News Network and how it all happened so fast. Ratzlaff clearly remembers the “big boom” sound of the crash.

“That sound, you just can’t describe it because you’ve never heard it before,” she said.
