The Oregon Ducks entered college football’s early signing day with nearly two dozen players committed to join the 2023 recruiting class.
On Wednesday morning, the Ducks added their 24th commitment to the class, flipping four-star quarterback Austin Novosad, who had been committed to Baylor. The addition of Novosad, who is from Dripping Springs, Texas, comes just two days after quarterback Dante Moore decommitted from the Ducks to flip to UCLA.
But that was only the beginning of a busy day for the Ducks, who then secured commitments from two five-star prospects and two four-star recruits.
First, Oregon flipped safety Peyton Bowen from Notre Dame. Bowen is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 safety and No. 14 player overall in the 247Sports composite. Then, edge rusher Matayo Uiagalelei chose the Ducks over USC and Ohio State. Uiagalelei, the younger brother of former Clemson quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 edge rusher in the country and the No. 17 overall player in the nation.
The Ducks then flipped four-star defensive back Daylen Austin, who had been committed to LSU since May. Austin, who is from Long Beach, California, ranks as the No. 10 cornerback nationally in 247Sports’ rankings. In the afternoon, the Ducks added a commitment from four-star running back Jayden Limar, who flipped from Notre Dame.
Around midday, the Ducks lost one commit but gained another. Four-star defensive back Caleb Presley flipped from Oregon to Washington, but three-star wide receiver Solomon Davis announced his commitment to the Ducks about the same time.
Wednesday’s additions gave the Ducks three five-star prospects in a class of 31 commits. Oregon, which also has 15 four-star players in its class, moved up to seventh nationally in 247Sports’ composite recruiting rankings.
As of 6:30 p.m., Oregon had announced 28 signings to the 2023 class. The only Ducks commits who had not yet signed were Bowen, four-star edge rusher Blake Purchase and four-star offensive lineman George Silva.
Here’s a look at the Ducks’ latest recruiting class, as of Wednesday evening.
