PREP BOYS BASKETBALL: Strong third quarter lifts Lakeside past St. Maries

| December 10, 2022 1:15 AM

PLUMMER — Junior Liam Hendrickx hit two quick 3-pointers early in the third quarter to give Lakeside the lead, then the Knights took it inside to finish off the St. Maries Lumberjacks 69-61 on Friday night in nonleague play at Ron Miller Court.

Hendrickx finished with 13 points for Lakeside (3-0). Vander Brown scored a game-high 25 points for the Knights, and also had seven assists and six rebounds, and freshman Tyson Charley added 15 points and eight rebounds.

“They (the Lumberjacks) were in a zone, and we were thinking we were shooters in the first half,” Lakeside coach James Twoteeth said. “At the half we decided we needed to get it inside, and shoot layins instead of 3s.”

Twoteeth said junior Lucky Matt gave the Knights a boost down low in the fourth quarter, Charley also played well down low.

Greyson Sands scored 20 points for St. Maries (2-1).
