A man is back in custody after escaping a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper as they arrived Friday night at the Clay County Detention Center in Liberty.

Daniel Mack ran from the trooper about 9:53 p.m., according to a tweet from the Liberty Police Department.

Mack wore a red hoodie and black pants.

He ran east on Mill Street toward Lightburne Street, according to the tweet.

At 1:25 a.m. Liberty police announced they had disbanded an extensive air and ground search after being unable to locate Mack, but would continue to have officers patrolling the area.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office said it, and "numerous" other law enforcement agencies, were actively searching for Mack.

Liberty police provided an update at 7:30 a.m., saying Mack was back in custody.

Police say an off-duty officer witnessed Mack walking on Kansas Street near Ridge in Liberty, Missouri. Officers arrived in the area and Mack ran from authorities on foot. Mack was taken into custody following the foot chase.

Mack was under arrest for a past felony resisting arrest warrant, the Clay County Sheriff says.

Anyone with information on Mack should call 911.
