Vertical construction on a 306-unit multifamily apartment complex has started at the site of Pearson Ranch, a $2 billion mixed-use project bringing office space, retail, restaurants, hotels, housing and more to Northwest Austin.

Inspire Development broke ground on the project Jan. 27 and expects construction to take 10-15 years to fully build out. The first of its undertakings at the site, The Eden will feature one-, two- and three-bedroom options, with a completion date set for the end of 2024, according to a Dec. 8 press release.

Designers tout the new homes as “smart” units, integrating the latest technology with other amenities, such as built-in kitchen islands, quartz countertops, walk-in closets, full-size washers and dryers, and smart locks. It is one of three apartment communities planned for the first phase of the Pearson Ranch project, which is located at the northeast corner of SH 45 N and West Parmer Lane, 2 miles from Apple’s $1 billion corporate campus.

The master plan also includes 48 acres of land for a corporate campus, filling a need for office space near major employers, including Dell, PayPal, Amazon, Visa and others.

“This part of the Austin area has cemented its reputation as the place to be for high-tech employers,” Inspire Managing Principal Brett Ames said in the release. “The Eden brings high-quality housing to an area where it’s needed and helps more people live close to where they work.”

Plans for residents at The Eden include access to community gardens and a 3-acre park. The complex will also feature a fitness center, a rooftop lounge deck with a complete kitchen, a golf simulator room, a dog spa, a work lounge and a resort-style pool area.
