NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A dead man found slashed in a Greenwich Village subway station was the victim of a homicide, police said Friday.

Officers were called to the West Fourth Street-Washington Square station and found the victim around 12:10 a.m. next to the stairs, in an area off the platform.

According to police, the man, who the Daily News reported to be in his 30s and homeless, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS after suffering cuts to his torso.

An NYPD spokesman told the outlet that the autopsy results were pending, but his death was deemed a homicide based on the injuries he sustained.

It remains unclear how long the victim had been there and what sparked the killing.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
