Sioux Rapids, Ia (KICD) – The next team we will look at for our boys basketball preview is the Sioux Central Rebels. Last year Sioux Central went 17-5 and 10-1 in the Twin Lakes Conference where they finished 2nd. The Rebels would fall in the second round of 2A Substate 2 to Okoboji. After last season’s success, coach Stephen Tjaden says almost all of last season’s production returns.
This year’s Sioux Central team is senior driven, and Coach Tjaden is happy with the leadership his upperclassmen have shown.
The Twin Lakes Conference race was a nail biter last season, with a buzzer beater being the difference between the Conference Champions Newell-Fonda and Sioux Central in 2nd. Tjaden says that it will be a 4 team race at the top this season.
Sioux Central is off to a roaring start this season at 3-0 with wins over Spencer, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and Confrence foe Alta-Aurelia. The next matchup was scheduled for Friday December 9th against Manson-Northwest Webster, but with weather, we look ahead to the Tuesday December 13th matchup against Pocahontas Area.
