The Arizona Coyotes return home to Mullett Arena for the first time since Nov. 3 after wrapping up an NHL-record-tying 14-game road trip.

The trip tied the record set by the Vancouver Canucks during the 2009-10 season.

Arizona finished the trip with a 4-7-3 record, including wins over the Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders in the first three games.

They earned 11 out of 28 possible points during the stretch, just enough to find themselves percentage points ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks (7-14-4) at seventh in the Central Division standings.

Here is a quick look at some of the stats the Coyotes have produced so far this season:

568

Whoa, that is a big number, right? Wrong. While 568 shots might seem like a large figure, the Coyotes rank dead last in the NHL in total shots by a wide margin compared to the rest of the league. Arizona is the only team in the NHL to have less than 600 shots this season and one of only two teams in the NHL with less than 700 shots. The Blackhawks are second-to-last in the league with 643 shots with one extra game played. Only nine other teams have less than 800 shots this year. The Florida Panthers lead the league with 1,047.

0

Despite the low shot total, the Coyotes have yet to be shut out so far this season. In fact, outside of two back-to-back games against the New York Rangers and Vegas Golden Knights, the Coyotes have scored at least two goals in every game so far.

10

Lawson Crouse leads the team with 10 goals so far this season. After signing a five-year contract extension this offseason for $21.5 million, the 25-year-old came through with seven goals in the month of November. He is on pace to exceed his career high of 20 goals in a season, which he tallied last year in 65 games.

22

Clayton Keller leads the Coyotes with 22 points so far this season. He is the only player on the team with more than 20 points, logging seven goals and 15 assists so far this season. Keller tallied four goals and eight assists on the 14-game road trip but hasn’t scored a goal since Nov. 17.

2

Goalie Karel Vejmelka has been one of the bright spots for the Coyotes this season. The second-year netminder recorded two shutouts during the road trip, blanking the Islanders on Nov. 10 and the Carolina Hurricanes on Nov. 23. Vejmelka is one of 10 goalies in the NHL with at least two shutouts this season. Only Connor Hellebuyck of the Winnipeg Jets and Ville Husso of the Detroit Red Wings have more with three apiece.

8

Defenseman Jakob Chychrun has played eight games so far for the Coyotes this season. He has three goals and four assists and is one of five Coyotes with a positive +/- rating at +4. The good start for the 24-year-old is likely to increase his trade value after the holidays as the seven-year veteran has requested to be traded by the March 3 NHL trade deadline.

8.5%

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the Coyotes are going to make a playoff run this season. Fortunately, they are in the running to win the NHL Draft lottery and earn the rights to draft one of the most hyped prospects in NHL history in center Connor Bedard. Bedard is a 5-foot-9, 17-year-old who has scored 27 goals and 64 points in just 28 games for the Regina Pats of the WHL. Last season, as a 16-year-old, Bedard scored 100 points in 62 games played. As things currently stand, Arizona has an 8.5% chance to land the top pick in the draft.
