Bay Port pulled away late in the second half to post a 67-56 win over visiting Manitowoc Lincoln last night in the FRCC Boys Basketball opener for both teams.
The Ships, who trailed by 7 at halftime after Brayden Kennedy nailed a buzzer-beating 3, got to within 1 early in the 2nd half before the Pirates steadily upped their lead.
It was Manitowoc’s 1st loss in 4 games while Bay Port improved to 3 and 1.
Kennedy, in his first game back this season, took game scoring honors with 20 points.
Brayden Steinbecker chipped in 15 and Brock Peterson added 13 all in the second half.
The Pirates also displayed a balanced attack with 4 players in double digits.
AJ Lieuwen and Vince Vandervest led the way with 16 points apiece, Jayden Hackett added 14 including an impressive two-handed breakaway dunk and Jackson Yanda contributed 12 points.
The Ships open the home portion of their conference schedule Tuesday night when Ashwaubenon visits the JFK Fieldhouse.
