December 9 weekend movies: Every new movie in theaters and streaming this weekend

We have a MASSIVE week in the world of film, from theaters to streaming. Below, we share the best new weekend movies to watch in theaters and available on streaming services that you won’t want to miss.

As we inch closer to Christmas, I wanted to shout out to those of you who stop by and read this article weekly. I enjoyed being able to provide you with a one-stop shop to find out all the movies that are set to come out to make your weekend a little easier. Weekend movies to watch (and stream) today

The week’s biggest release comes from the big return of Brendan Fraser pairing with veteran director Darron Aronofsky. The story follows a teacher who attempts to reconnect with his teenage daughter. There has been a mixed bag of reviews on the film, but everyone has put Fraser as the front-runner to take home the Best Actor prize in March at the Oscars. It will be interesting to see what the audiences say about the film, but I am excited to check this out.

The other big release comes from a movie that I saw at the 2022 AFI Film Festival, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. The movie had a select theater run in the middle of November, but not the film heads to the streaming giant Netflix. I was blown away by del Torro’s work on this film to the point where he had me in tears several times. It’s a story told so many times, but not one as creative or unique as this one. Please don’t miss this one when it drops on Netflix.
