Netherlands vs Argentina referee: Who are the match officials for the 2022 World Cup quarter-final?

It's a mouth-watering clash.

Netherlands and Argentina go head-to-head on Friday in the second World Cup quarter-final of Qatar 2022.

Two-time champions Argentina booked their place in the last eight with a hard-fought victory over Australia in the round of 16, with Lionel Messi scoring his third goal of the tournament in the win.

Meanwhile, Louis van Gaal's Netherlands secured their quarter-final place with a 3-1 win over the United States.

The Dutch have never won the World Cup but have gone close several times, having lost in the final three times.

While Argentina may have won it twice, their last victory came back in 1986.

The winner of Argentina's clash with Netherlands will take on either Brazil or Croatia in the semi-finals.

Netherlands vs Argentina: Who is the referee?

Spanish referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz will take charge of Friday's quarter-final at Lusail Iconic Stadium.

A vastly experienced referee, the La Liga official took charge of the 2021 Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea.

He has been the man in the middle for two games so far at this year's World Cup.

Lahoz refereed Senegal's 3-1 win over tournament hosts Qatar in the group stage.

He then took charge of the United States' tense 1-0 win over Iran in the same group as England and Wales.
