18-year-old killed in motorcycle crash south of Wichita

One person died Thursday night when a motorcycle and another vehicle crashed in the 3900 block of S. Rock Road, south of Wichita.(KWCH)

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Update Dec. 9: The person killed in Thursday evening’s crash at Rock and 39th St. South was identified as 18-year-old Brandon Koziar of Derby. Koziar was moving north on Rock Road when he was struck by a Cadillac SUV that was traveling south on Rock, turning east onto 39th St. South.

Koziar died at the scene, and the driver of the Cadillac, a 52-year-old Derby woman, was uninjured.

Epic Church wrote about Koziar’s death on its Facebook page, saying, “Brandon was known for his great attitude, caring spirit and great hugs. The world was a better place for him being a part of it.”

Koziar’s mother, Erica Koziar, also addressed Brandon’s death on Facebook, saying, “My baby boy. Gone too soon. My heart is broken.”

First responders were called to the scene around 10:25 p.m. in the 3900 block of S. Rock Road.

Sedgwick County dispatchers confirm one fatality and one person with minor injuries from the crash involving the motorcycle and another vehicle.
