Man charged with murder for stabbing death of man, 28, during dispute in the Bronx

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a man accused of fatally stabbing another man with a small screwdriver in the Bronx earlier this week, authorities announced Thursday.

Officials cuffed Joel Diaz, 44, on Wednesday for the death of Fitzroy Bennett, 28.

Bennett was stabbed in the torso during an argument at about 5 a.m. Tuesday at E. 183rd Street and University Avenue in University Heights.

EMS transported Bennett to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Diaz was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
