Browns executives share thoughts on how Deshaun Watson was treated in first game back

Cleveland Browns executives were reportedly somewhat relieved with the overall reaction to quarterback Deshaun Watson's return to the NFL field in Week 13, following his 11-game suspension.

Watson's first game in 23 months wasn't pretty, but the Browns still defeated the host Houston Texans on Sunday, 27-14. The 27-year-old went 12-for-22 for 131 passing yards, 0 touchdowns and one interception and added seven carries for 21 rushing yards.

Cleveland won due to its defense and special teams, plus its matchup with an inferior opponent. At 1-10-1, the Texans (Watson's old team) are the worst team in the NFL.

Under Watson's guidance, the Browns offense produced just a pair of field goals against the Texans. Their three touchdowns came via two interception returns and a punt return.

The Clemson product served his 11-game suspension and was fined $5 million for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The punishment stemmed from the over 20 allegations of sexual misconduct during visits with dozens of massage therapists.

Cleveland goes on the road again in Week 14 to face the Cincinnati Bengals, before playing at home in 15 and 16 against the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints respectively.
