The Bay Area is on alert for back-to-back storms. The first one will hit by this afternoon and be light. But the one Saturday is causing the most concern. It’ll be stronger with an atmospheric river. Forecasters say that could be dangerous for drivers, warning of possible flooding on roads and small streams. Utility crews are also bracing as high winds could knock down trees and cause possible power outages.

Anyone leaving the Bay Area for Lake Tahoe will need chains. A Winter Weather Advisory begins Thursday morning as six to 12 inches of snow is expected in the Sierra. But beware, experts say whiteout conditions could make it impossible to see. A Winter Storm Watch starts tomorrow night, with three to five feet of snow falling above five-thousand feet.
