Move over “f–king” Adam Schefter.
Daniel Chalet — a.k.a. Danny Boy Hustle Hard — is “the official driver” for Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley, according to his Instagram bio. On that social media platform Wednesday night, Chalet dropped what could be an NFL news bombshell when he claimed that Beckham was not signing with the Cowboys.
“You people thought that Odell was going to the Cowboys, right?” Chalet, a Bloomfield, N.J. native, said. “Let me tell you people something. I am better than f—king Adam Schefter. I am better than f—king Jordan Schultz. He is not going to no Cowboys. You want to know where he’s going? Tune the f–k in right here.”
It appeared for weeks that Beckham, 30, was most likely to sign with the Cowboys given their strong position as a contender and the team’s highly publicized recruiting of the receiver. However, Beckham reportedly left a Cowboys visit this week without a contract and the team is said to have concerns regarding his status to play this season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.
Before he went to Dallas, Beckham spent time with the Bills and Giants. While the Giants are in playoff position at 7-4-1, few would consider them a Super Bowl contender, such as Dallas and Buffalo. Beckham, though, started his career with the Giants, and Barkley and other players have pushed for his return. It is unclear how much impact Beckham can have this season, even in the playoffs, with a full return expected in 2023. He tore his ACL playing for the Rams in the Super Bowl.
Chalet had a brief brush with fame last season when he picked up Antonio Brown outside MetLife Stadium following the then-Buccaneers receiver’s shirtless meltdown and mid-game exit against the Jets. However, he has long been a popular figure among Giants and Jets players.
Warning: Graphic Language
“People know if I’m around somebody like Odell all the time,” Chalet told NJ.com in a 2020 profile. “Other players this is how they think: If Odell trusts me, then I’m good money.”
