Two inmates, one from Wadsworth, escape from Lorain County correctional facility

Two inmates at the Lorain/Medina Community Based Correctional Facility escaped Wednesday night after breaking a window, according to a news release from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office, Beacon Journal news partner News 5 Cleveland reported.

Inmates Johnny L. Brooks Jr., whose last known address was in Wadsworth and who was incarcerated for possession of drugs, and Steven A. Carpenter, who was incarcerated for burglary, were able to break a window and escape from the facility located on Murray Ridge Road, the release said.

They were last seen running on foot and heading southeast.

Carpenter is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He may be wearing a black hoodie and dark-colored sweatpants. He has a beard and a tattoo above his left eye.

Brooks is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He may be wearing a black hoodie and jeans.

The sheriff's office said that anyone who sees the inmates should not make contact with them but contact their local law enforcement agency or Lorain Emergency Services (440-244-0373), the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office (440-323-1212) or 911.
