DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who escaped through a window at the Wayne County Jail on Wednesday evening is back in custody after he was caught at the home of his domestic assault victim almost three hours later, police said.

The Detroit Police Department said Tavon Wisdom, 26, of Detroit was taken into custody, again, around 9:30 p.m. after he slipped through a window while being booked into jail's Division 1 facility off Clinton Street for a domestic violence charge and a parole violation.

Wisdom's escape triggered a manhunt around 7:00 p.m. by the Detroit police and Wayne County Sheriff's deputies, who tracked him down to where they believed he would go -- to the home of his victim, authorities said.

Wisdom was back behind bars the same evening, but officials say it remains unclear just how he managed to escape. The man slipped through police custody so fast, he had not yet been entered into the jail system, authorities said.

Wisdom, who was described by police as six feet tall, 155 pounds with a brown complexion and shoulder length dread locks, was believed to have made his way over to the home of his domestic assault victim on foot.

Multiple ground and air units were deploys to assist in his capture.

No other information was released by authorities.
