NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Firefighters put out a fire that started early Thursday morning on 325 Kennedy Road in Northampton.
Smoke and some flames were coming from the single-family home. Northampton Fire Chief, Jon Davine told 22News that they got the call just after 4 a.m. Thursday morning from a neighbor.
Upon arrival, firefighters found two occupants of the home out in the front yard recovering from smoke inhalation. They reportedly were able to escape, one was bound to a wheelchair but was able to escape with the help of a resident. Both occupants were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Fire officials say that there were no hydrants on Kennedy Road or in the area. Hatfield Fire tankers assisted Northampton Fire Department. Hatfield Fire crew filled up on water down the road near Spring Street.
Firefighters from Hatfield, Easthampton, Amherst and Deerfield assisted in putting out the fire. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Northampton Fire Department.
