"Trooper Krug has served Ohio motorists with respect and unbiased professionalism," says a recent Ravenna Post media release. "During his seventeen years of service, trooper Krug has set an example for young troopers while also serving as a training officer. He is a public servant who truly cares about people. His work ethic, consistency, and heartfelt desire to help others put trooper Krug as the top trooper in Portage County."

According to a separate media release, DeWitt was chosen based on her service at the Ravenna dispatch center and to the Warren highway patrol district.

"Fellow co-workers and troopers stationed in Ravenna and Chardon chose dispatcher DeWitt based on her leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers and the public," says the release.

The Ravenna dispatch center also serves Geauga County.

Krug joined the highway patrol in 2005 and upon graduating from the academy, he was stationed at the Lima post. In 2007, Krug transferred to the Hiram Post and in 2008, he moved to the Ravenna Post to be closer to home.

While at the Ravenna Post, Krug was previously voted the post's trooper of the year in both 2010 and 2015.

Krug lives in Alliance with his wife, Molly, and their two children, Alex and Emma.

DeWitt, 34, joined the Highway Patrol in 2017 and has served at the Ravenna dispatch center since then. She was first recognized as the post's dispatcher of the year in 2018. Prior to starting her career as a dispatcher, DeWitt worked for 10 years in Mantua for Hattie Larlham, a non-profit organization that provides support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Originally from Ravenna, she is a Ravenna High School graduate.
