Partly cloudy skies are expected for much of the day today in Boise with a high of 35 degrees. We can call this the calm before the storms with winter weather headed our way this weekend.

A winter weather advisory will begin at 5 p.m. today and will be in effect in the Treasure Valley until 11 a.m. on Friday. About 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected in the Treasure Valley and Malheur County. 2-6 inches of snow is expected in the mountains Friday morning. The snow will be lighter on Saturday, however, another inch or two of snow is expected to fall over the weekend in the Treasure Valley. Snowfall will be the heaviest in the mountains on Saturday. Up to 8 inches of snowfall is expected in the mountains on Saturday.

Roads will be very slick on the Friday morning commute. Be very cautious on roadways. Give yourself extra time to commute by leaving early and use 4-wheel drive if you are able to.
