(Franklin County, MA) Governor Baker announced 78 new grant awards as part of his Community Compact Cabinet to support local communities. The Community Compact Cabinet was initiated when Gov. Baker took office to support and strengthen the relationship between the state and the cities and towns in Massachusetts. It is comprised of four programs; Information Technology, Best Practices, Efficiency and Regionalization, and Municipal Fiber.

At Tuesday’s event, Baker announced new grant awards in two of the programs: Information Technology and Efficiency and Regionalization. Several towns in Franklin County received new grants through the Information Technology program.

Buckland received $17,500 for the purchase and installation of hybrid meeting infrastructure. Northfield will be implementing an increased cybersecurity system and other network enhancements for the town library with their award of $11,000. Orange will be updating their website with their $15,000 grant award. The Town of Rowe will use their award of $133,400 to implement a financial management system.
