Reindeer Runners take to J.R. Martin

The Republic Parks and Recreation Department held the 14th Annual Reindeer Run 5K at J.R. Martin Park on the evening of Friday, Dec. 2. More than 200 people ran and/or walked in the event.
After the race, an awards ceremony was held, where prizes were awarded to the top finishers. The top male finisher was Austin Kendall, 17, who completed the 5K in 16.54.58, while the top female finisher was Adianna Cooper, 18, whose finishing time was 20.00.10.
Prizes were also awarded for the top Master finishers (those over 40). The top male master was Ben Jennings, who completed the 5k in 18:55.52, while the top female master was Rosie Laughlin, whose finishing time was 20.35.88. Additionally, the Parks and Rec staff awarded prizes to the top three male and female finishers in each age category. Participants in the Reindeer Run received a discount on their entry fee if they brought a new, unwrapped toy to be given to People Helping People. About 75 children's toys were donated.
