Dothan commits millions to HudsonAlpha project

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan has entered into a 20 million dollar agreement with HudsonAlpha.

$450,000 will be paid quarterly over the next five years for a total of $20.6 million.

The agreement will establish Hudson Alpha Wiregrass, its own satellite office which is an extension of genomics research, economic development and education focused on plants science and agriculture.

The nonprofit organization will use genomics to create a new variety of plants that thrive in the Wiregrass, recruit companies interested in agriculture, and how to build the workforce through workshops and internships.

Dothan city commissioners had nothing but good things to say about HudsonAlpha and say it will be transformative going forward.
