Every winter, the unhoused are faced with life-threatening temperatures and weather.
This year, Lane County Health and Human Services and Eugene's First Christian Church kicked off "Operation Winter Survival Stockpile."
The operation started last month, and so far, hundreds of households have brought in socks, gloves, blankets, clothes and more to the church.
Co-pastor Zane Ridings says many agencies have picked up donated items and have given them out to people in need.
"It's amazing to see the community to respond to a call for help. And it really does feel like there's people out there who care. That's one of the most important things we need as face this crisis and disaster, which is so many people outdoors," said Zane Ridings, co-pastor with the First Christian Church.
Pastor Ridings says although the donation event was a success, it's still in need of more tents and sleeping bags.
If you'd like to drop off any donated items, you can drop them off at the First Christian Church in Eugene on weekdays between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
