Police have theories but still cannot make arrests in the execution-style slayings of a man and two kids one year ago on the southeast side of Columbus.
That’s why police renewed their call to the public for help with information in the case.
“There are numerous theories as to why this occurred,” Detective Terrence Kelley said. “And each one of those theories are credible.”
Police again showed surveillance video that caught the incident: two men approaching a car, unloading their guns on the man and two children inside, then fleeing in a waiting car driven by a third man. Investigators say they suspect at least one or two others helped them.
The shots killed Charles Wade, and the children of his girlfriend, Londynn, age six, and Demetrius, age nine.
Police said they hope that showing the video again prompts someone to come forward with information.
“They have to speak up,” Asst. Chief LaShanna Potts said. “This type of lawlessness cannot continue to occur in the city of Columbus.”
Potts called the gunmen “monsters.” Kelley said it appeared the men had killed before.
“If they haven't killed before, it looks like someone who absolutely does not have any regard for human life,” Kelly said.
