Duval, Nassau, St. Johns school districts announce schedule changes due to Hurricane Nicole closures

Northeast Florida school districts have announced some schedule changes to the rest of the school year due to weather-related closures from Hurricane Nicole.

Duval County Public Schools

St. Johns County School District

DCPS shared the following updates to its school calendar, which were approved by the School Board on Tuesday:

  • End of 2nd grading period went from Dec. 16 to Jan. 6.
  • May 17 went from an early dismissal day to a normal school day.
  • All schools will dismiss 3 hours early the last week of school: May 30 - June 2. (These were previously normal school days)

SJCSD has designated Monday, February 6 as a regular school day for all students and staff. This date was previously scheduled as an inservice day for staff and a holiday for students.

Nassau County School District

Students will return to school from winter break on Monday, January 9, instead of Tuesday, January 10.

Several area school districts, including Duval, St. Johns and Nassau, closed Thursday, Nov. 10 in anticipation of local impacts from Nicole. All local school districts were already closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
