PRINCETON – The Princeton Women's Basketball Team heads to Storrs, Conn, take on the No. 6 Connecticut Huskies on Thursday.

How Did We Get Here?
•Princeton is 5-2 this season after dropping the Towson Tigers, 71-54, on Monday.
 
Julia Cunningham paced the Tigers with 13 points while Grace Stone (12), Madison St. Rose (12) and Kaitlyn Chen (11) also registered double digits in the win. St. Rose had a season high while Ellie Mitchell added 12 rebounds.
 
•It was the first time a Princeton opponent had not knocked down a three-pointer in a game since Dec. 29, 2019, vs. New Hampshire. Head coach Carla Berube's unit held Towson to 16 baskets and 32 percent shooting.
 
•The home team made one more run at Princeton with eight straight to cut the deficit to eight, 55-47, with 6:28 to go. Stone scored six points over the next three and half minutes while Princeton's defense allowed no baskets over the final 3:45 of game action to secure the victory.
 
2022-23 Stats And Things ...

Ellie Mitchell is third in the country in rebounds per game (13.7), defensive rebounds per contest (9.1), eighth in total rebounds (96) and 10th in offensive rebounds (4.6).
 
•Against Seton Hall, she became only the third person since 2009-10 to have at least 23 rebounds and six steals in a game (Javonna Layfield (Dayton), 12/31/17), Kylie Kuhns (Sacramento St., 12/1/10).
 
•Mitchell became the first player in the NCAA to record at least 12 rebounds and eight steals in a game this season at Maine.
 
•She is also only the 10th player since 2009-10 to have at least seven points, 12 rebounds, three assists and eight steals in a contest and the first since February of 2018.
 
•She has snagged at least 10 rebounds in 15 of her last 17 games dating back to last season.
 
•The junior is 11th in country in steals per game (3.57) and 17th in total steals (25). She's also 38th in doubles-doubles (three) and has 11 in her career. Mitchell sits 42nd in minutes per game (35.8).
 
Kaitlyn Chen leads the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game and field goal percentage (47.6).
 
•After scoring 31 points in 20 games last year, Paige Morton has registered 42 this season.
 
•After starting the season by shooting 5-of-27 (18.5 percent), Madison St. Rose is 11 for her last 23 (47.8 percent). She has 29 points in her three two games after scoring 16 in the first four.
 
•Cunningham is currently 142 points shy of 1,000 for her career. At her 13.2 points/game pace, she'd reach that milestone on Jan. 16 vs. Penn.
 
•The Tigers have at least 10 assists in each game this season except for one.
 
•After having nine steals in the first two games combined, the Tigers have produced 50 swipes in the last five.
 
Grace Stone has made at least one three in every game except for one and is shooting 39.3 percent from deep to pace the Tigers.
 
•Princeton's Net Rating is 66 following the win over Towson, the second highest in the Ivy League behind Columbia at No. 30.

•Princeton is ranked No. 16 in the NCAA in Her Hoops Stats Defensive Rating (78.3), a statistic that controls for pace and adjusts defensive rating for the strength of the offenses teams have faced.
 
•The Tigers are No. 34 in Her Hoops Stats Rating (22.6), a rating of teams that controls for pace, adjusts for opponent quality, and incorporates margin of victory in addition to wins and losses.
 
•Berube's unit is also No. 39 in Simple RPI (58.9) which treats all games equally (25% Team Win %, 50% Average Opponent Win %, 50% Average Opponent's Average Opponent Win %). It is different from the NCAA RPI because the NCAA RPI values home wins as 0.6 wins, home losses as 1.4 losses, away wins as 1.4 wins, and away losses as 0.6 losses.

•Princeton is 0-1 against national ranked team this season and 3-28 overall.
 
•Before last year, the Tigers had one program victory over a top-25 team.
 
•The Tigers proceeded to collect two during the 2021-22 campaign.
 
•Princeton dropped No. 15 Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. In December of 2021, the Tigers defeated No. 22 Florida Gulf Coast, 58-55.
 
•The Tigers' decision over Florida Gulf Coast was the program's first top-25 victory in 43 years.
 
•Princeton's previous top-25 win was vs. No. 18 Rutgers on Jan. 5, 1978 (70-57). Princeton head coach Carla Berube was two years old. It was also the team's first game vs. a top-25 program.
 
•The Tigers did not face another top-25 opponent for 24 years until battling No. 7 Stanford on Nov. 29, 2002. Princeton went on to face 24 more top-25 squads and went 0-25.
 
•Some top teams that the Tigers have faced are No. 1 Tennessee (Dec. 20, 2005), No. 2 Rutgers (Nov. 18, 2008) and No. 4 Stanford (Dec. 18, 2011).
 
Berube in the Postseason ...
•Berube went 16-3 during the NCAA Tournament as a player at UConn, highlighted by the 1995 national title.
 
•As a coach, Berube had a 28-12 record in the tournament with Tufts, securing back-to-back trips to the title game in 2016 and 2017.
