Indoor track & field schedule begins this week in Provo

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley University's indoor track & field team is set to compete in the team's only December meet, this Thursday and Friday at the BYU Indoor Invitational to open the 2022-23 schedule.

The meet will be held at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo with the throws taking at BYU's indoor practice facility across the street. Admission to the event is free. Seven programs, the majority from Utah schools, will send student-athletes to the event.

Thursday's schedule will begin at 11:20 a.m. and consist of the women's pentathlon, men's heptathlon, long jump, pole vault, triple jump, shot put, and weight throw. Friday starts at 11 a.m. and includes the conclusion of the heptathlon, 60m hurdles, high jump, mile, pole vault, 800m, 300m, high jump, 600 yds, and the 3,000m.

Among the Wolverines expected to compete are returning outdoor All-Americans Adam Bunker, Aaron Johnson and Everlyn Kemboi. Bunker is scheduled to run in the mile and 3,000m, Johnson is slated to compete in the long jump, 60m, and 300m, and Kemboi will compete in the 3,000m.

Kemboi was last season's WAC indoor champion and set new records in winning both the 5,000m and 3,000m while Johnson won the long jump at the championships.

Following this week's action, Utah Valley will be off until the BYU Indoor Invitational II that runs Jan. 12-14 in Provo.
