Two people who were suspected of being involved in the robbery of the McDonald’s in Aurora on Tuesday, Nov. 29, were arrested less than 24 hours later and are being held in the Lawrence County Jail.
Ryan Hall, 22, of Aurora is charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Kaylee Gold, also 22 and of Aurora, is charged with stealing.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, two people robbed the McDonald’s at gunpoint on Nov. 29. As police investigated the robbery, they reportedly identified the vehicle used in the robbery as belonging to Gold and discovered it had a GPS tracker.
Using the tracker, the car was located at a residence where Gold and Hall were living. A search warrant was served at the address on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and the couple was taken into custody. The reporting officer also stated that clothing worn by the robbery suspects, the gun believed to have been used in the robbery and a large sum of cash were also located at the home.
In a post-Miranda interview, Gold stated that she had asked Hall to get her some water on the evening of Nov. 29. She said he left the residence and came back with her water, two other people and a large sum of cash (The two people are not being named because, as of press time, they had not been charged in relation to the McDonald’s robbery).
Gold stated that when Hall returned, he said he had made rent. She also said that the next morning, she saw pictures of the robbery on Facebook and knew it was the two people who had returned with Hall who were in the pictures. She told the detective that she asked Hall if he’d robbed the McDonald’s, and he said he just drove. Gold also reportedly told the detective that she’d driven Hall and others around Springfield to commit robberies.
Hall also answered questions in a post-Miranda interview, during which he allegedly said he dropped the two individuals off at the church next door to McDonald’s and then picked them up afterwards. From there, Hall reportedly told the officer, he took them back to the house where they stayed the night. He also allegedly told the officer that he used the money to pay his and Kaylee’s bills and to buy a gun.
According to court documents, Gold and Hall are suspects in four to five other armed robberies and are being held without bond pending trial. Both will next appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 8.
