Grocery Freight Firm Travis Trucking Goes Digital and Cut Costs

A trucking company is saving tens of thousands of dollars a month after modernizing payments.

Travis Trucking attributes the savings to the faster turnaround times on docks and guaranteed reimbursements enabled by automating its over-the-road payments, FinTech company Relay Payments said in a Wednesday (Dec. 7) press release.

“Because our loads have multiple stops, we lose time and money each time we get stuck on the docks,” Travis Trucking Driver Manager Donald Hickman said in the release. “Relay’s solution makes it easier to get in and out of warehouses so drivers can get to their next load.”

The trucking company deployed Relay’s instant, secure and contactless payment technology throughout its fleet of 55 refrigerated trucks that deliver food to grocery stores and restaurants. The firm makes more than 150 payments each month, according to the press release.

With Relay’s digital payment network, Travis Trucking saves drivers the hundreds of hours a month they would have spent waiting at docks, reduces the amount of time the refrigerated trucks spend idling at the docks and consuming fuel to keep the loads cold, and allows dispatchers to schedule more loads, the release said.

In addition, the trucking company gets receipts instantaneously, which ensures reimbursement and improves cash flow, per the release.

“Our partnership with Travis Trucking is the perfect example of Relay’s core mission and commitment to the trucking industry,” Relay Payments Co-founder Spencer Barkoff said in the release. “We always believed that we could make drivers’ lives a little easier and streamline major parts of the supply chain.”
