The New York Mets have added yet another solid starting pitcher to their rotation.
This morning, the team signed veteran left-hander Jose Quintana to a two-year, $26 million contract.
Quintana went 6-7 this season and posted a 2.93 ERA with the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals.
The 33-year-old also started Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series for the Cardinals against the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Mets had already beefed up their starting rotation on Monday, signing the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander to a two-year, $86 million contract, replacing the departed Jacob deGrom.
Now, the Mets add another key veteran to an already strong rotation.

Somewhere, Cardinals fans are screaming.
But Mets fans will certainly be happy with this move.
Quintana proved to be a solid pickup for the Cardinals at the trade deadline, emerging as the team’s ace when Adam Wainwright began to struggle.
While this may not be an earth-shattering move, the Mets now have a solid top three in their rotation.
New York won 101 games during the regular season with Max Scherzer, deGrom, and Chris Bassitt at the top of their rotation.
While deGrom is gone and Bassitt is unlikely to return, owner Steve Cohen has made it clear that he still wants to build a solid rotation and keep New York on par with the Atlanta Braves.
The Mets ultimately fell short in the Wild Card Series against the San Diego Padres.
But with Scherzer, Verlander, and Quintana in the top three spots of their rotation, the Mets look prepared to bounce back in 2023.
