I survived two gun shots and hip operations, nothing can stop me and I’m ready to fight Tyson Fury, says Mahmoud Charr

MAHMOUD CHARR said nothing Tyson Fury can do will be able to stop him, having survived two gun shots and hip operations.

The Germany-based, Lebanon-born Syrian was in talks to face Fury this month but Derek Chisora ultimately pipped him.

And Charr, 38, sat back in frustration and Chisora, also 38, was dominated and stopped after ten rounds at Tottenham's stadium.

The forgotten heavyweight - formerly known as Manuel - still wants to fight Fury

Charr told Sky Sports: "For sure he knows that I am more dangerous than Chisora.

"He knows my story. Two shots can't stop me, two new hip operations can't stop me. Who is he to stop me?

"He knows very well I am "The Arab King," no one can stop me."

Charr was 28–4 in 2015 when his life was almost taken from him, following a cowardly assault from a Facebook troll.

The attacker had been provoking the fighter online, posing videos of his losses on social media.

But when Charr offered to face the man behind the screen in person, he was subject to a drive-by shooting in a kebab shop in Essen.

He miraculously survived and lived to see his shooter, Youssef Hassan, sentenced to five years in prison.

Charr had two tune-ups fights afterwards but later needed a double replacement, undergoing surgery in 2017 at the age of just 32.

The same year, he went on to win the WBA's secondary world title and has won his last five bouts.

Fury, 33, now looks set to fight Oleksandr Usyk, 35, next year in Saudi Arabia to crown the first ever four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion.

So Charr, who returns on December 17 against Lucas Browne, is ready to focus on Anthony Joshua, 33, with the two main players tied up elsewhere.

He said: "Joshua is a great sportsman. He is a smart fighter and a gentleman.

"This fight is also a wish and a present for all Arabic countries. Maybe he is ready to fight me in the UAE, if he wants the smoke."
