Fantasy Football Big Board: Complete PPR Player Rankings for Week 14

Well folks, this is it. The end of the line. OK, the first end of the line.

In the majority of fantasy leagues, Week 14 marks the final week of the regular season. The final stop in a journey that began all the way back in September. A journey that will hopefully lead into the fantasy playoffs and potentially to a championship.

Of course, to win the championship, first you have to make the playoffs. Some fortunate fantasy managers have already locked up a postseason berth. There are regrettably others for whom the postseason ain't happening—after this week it's time to pack it in. But for a great many managers, the stakes this week are higher than they have been at any point this season.

Whether you are jockeying for a first-round bye or just trying to get into the postseason party, the first step in notching a victory in this all-important week is having a set of position-by-position PPR rankings to work from—say one that also highlights some matchups to target and others that could be troublesome.

As it happens, that's what's included in this very column.

Convenient, ain't it?

Here we go again.

Over the first 13 weeks of the 2021 regular season, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was fifth among quarterbacks in fantasy points per game. But in Week 14, Jackson suffered an ankle injury, and that was that.

This year it was one week earlier and a knee injury, but fantasy managers are potentially up the same creek. Last week against the Denver Broncos, Jackson left the game and did not return, and while head coach John Harbaugh told reporters the injury isn't believed to be season-ending, Jackson probably isn't playing in Week 14.

"As the week goes on, we'll see for this week," Harbaugh said. "It's probably less likely for this week, but it's not impossible. Then, after that, it'll become more and more likely."

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but the Ravens sang a similar song last year about Jackson's ankle. Every week was "maybe." And every week he sat.

If the Jackson injury opened a hole in your lineup, you might want to fill it with his replacement. Tyler Huntley didn't do a ton last week against Denver, but from Week 14 of last season, he was a top-five fantasy option in points per game in his own right.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Kirk Cousins, Minnesota Vikings (at DET) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100)

The Lions admittedly looked good defensively against Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars last week, but we're still talking about a team that ranks dead last in total defense, 27th against the pass and first in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks.

Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (vs. MIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600)

Goff had a day last week against the Jaguars—340 passing yards, two touchdowns and top-five fantasy numbers. He has a good chance at similar success Sunday against the Vikings, who are dead last in pass defense after allowing a big yardage day last week to Mike White of the Jets.

BAD MATCHUPS

Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at SF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600)

After leading the NFL in both passing yards and touchdown passes last year, Brady's numbers are way down in 2022—he barely ranks among the top-20 fantasy quarterbacks in points per game. A 49ers defense that just shut down Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins won't help matters.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys (vs. HOU) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,500)

It might seem odd to call Houston's non-existent defense a bad matchup, but the reality is where opposing passing games are concerned it has been most of the season. No team in the AFC has given up fewer fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season.

SLEEPER

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (vs. JAX) (DraftKIngs DFS Value: $5,200)

The Titans struggled offensively in a big way last week in Philadelphia, and even when the offense is firing on all cylinders it's not exactly the Greatest Show on Turf. A matchup with Jacksonville's porous secondary should help though—the Jags are seventh in fantasy points per game allowed to quarterbacks.

Lamar Jackson wasn't the only valuable fantasy asset that suffered an injury at the worst possible time. In fact, it can be argued that nothing is worse than losing a starter in the backfield ahead of what could be a must-win week.

Rookie running back Kenneth Walker lll of the Seattle Seahawks has been quite the producer for fantasy managers—he's 10th in PPR points at the position and 10th again in points per game. But in recent weeks, Walker may have hit the "rookie wall"—he was bailed out by two scores in Week 12 but hasn't tallied 40 rushing yards in a month.

Now, Walker may not be available at all. He managed just three carries last week against the Rams with what's being called an ankle strain, and per ESPN's Brady Henderson head coach Pete Carroll admitted that Walker's status for Week 14 is uncertain.

"He's got a strain in a particular part of his foot that we've just got to help him through and see if we can get it to quiet down and all that," Carroll said. "It's an unusual injury. I've never heard of this. It's a little space that's just aggravated in the inside of his ankle that we've got to just help him, just do everything we can to get him back, see if he can come back and play."

Monitor Walker's practice participation—and have a Plan B ready.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas Cowboys (vs. HOU) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,100)

Elliott hasn't topped 100 rushing yards in a game yet this season, but he has found the end zone in each of the past five games. Six in a row is a distinct possibility—the Texans have allowed almost 170 yards a game on the ground and 15 rushing touchdowns this season.

Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. CLE) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,900)

After missing the past two weeks with a concussion, Mixon is expected to clear the league's protocol this week. He's set up well for a rebound return rampage against a soft Cleveland run defense allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to running backs this season.

BAD MATCHUPS

Travis Etienne Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars (at TEN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,400)

Etienne played through a foot injury last week and was actually pretty effective on a per-touch basis, averaging about 4.2 yards per carry. But the Titans aren't an easy team to run on, allowing just 83.1 rushing yards per game—third-fewest in the league.

Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at SF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,500)

It's bad enough that the workload share between White and veteran Leonard Fournette is an unknown that could vary from week-to-week. But he also faces a San Francisco run defense surrendering a league-low 75.6 yards per game on the ground.

SLEEPER

D'Onta Foreman, Carolina Panthers (at SEA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,400)

Foreman has shown the ability to be productive, especially when the matchup is right—he's hit 100 rushing yards three times in five starts. The Seahawks have struggled against the run this season, allowing 155.3 yards per game—most in the NFC.

Every summer, there is a debate in fantasy football regarding the best use of a first-round pick. Some believe a bellcow running back is the only way to fly. Others are every bit as sure that an elite wide receiver is the best use of that pick. It's the scarcity of running backs vs. the reliability of receivers.

Where the 2022 season is concerned, the latter camp's argument has received a boost.

This isn't top say that the wideout position hasn't been dinged this season—just ask managers who made Cooper Kupp of the Rams the first receiver drafted. In addition to the ankle injury that landed Kupp on injured reserve, Ja'Marr Chase of the Bengals missed several weeks with a bad hip before returning in Week 13.

But for the most part, receivers like Justin Jefferson of the Vikings, Davante Adams of the Raiders and Tyreek Hill of the Dolphins have been exactly what they were drafted to be. They have been productive. They have been consistent. And they have been reliable.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Jerry Jeudy, Denver Broncos (vs. KC) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,400)

The Denver offense is admittedly a dumpster fire. But with Courtland Sutton iffy for Week 14 with a hamstring injury, Jeudy should see a big target share against a soft Chiefs pass defense in a game where the Broncos will all but certainly be playing from behind.

Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars (at TEN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,600)

Kirk was the lone bright spot for the Jaguars last week, hauling in six catches for 104 yards. He should have similar success this week in Tennessee against a Titans team that has surrendered the most fantasy points per game to wide receivers in 2022.

BAD MATCHUPS

Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns (at CIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $6,200)

Cooper has been outstanding for fantasy managers this season. But in addition to drawing a bottom-five fantasy matchup for wide receivers this week, Copper also now has to contend with a rusty quarterback who did not look good throwing the ball last week.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kansas City Chiefs (at DEN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,600)

Smith-Schuster has been locked in a slump of late, with eight catches for 106 yards over the last three games combined. That isn't likely to change this week—the Broncos may be terrible on offense, but the defense is one of the best in the league.

SLEEPER

D.J. Chark Jr., Detroit Lions (vs. MIN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $4,300)

Chark quietly had a very nice game against his old team last week, hauling in five of six targets for 96 yards against the Jaguars. With opposing defenses paying so much attention to Amon-Ra St. Brown, Chark is drawing single coverage—and last week he took advantage of it.

For most of the 2022 season, the top of the tight end leaderboard has been all about Travis Kelce of the Chiefs, Mark Andrews of the Ravens and T.J. Hockenson of the Vikings. The usual suspects—only without Keyser Soze.

However, in Week 13 the highest-scoring tight ends were a who's who of "who?"

The highest-scoring tight end for the week was Cade Otton of the Buccaneers, who caught six passes—for all of 28 yards. He was followed by rookie Greg Dulcich of the Broncos, Noah Fant of the Seahawks, Evan Engram of the Jaguars and Taysom Hill of the Saints.

Of that group, Hill is the only one who ranks inside the top-10 for the season—and he has been ridiculously streaky.

Odds are good that order will be restored to the tight end universe in Week 14. But for one week at least, the little guy had their day in the sun.

GOOD MATCHUPS

T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings (at DET) (DraftKings DFS Value: $5,100)

This matchup has a little of everything. There's a top-five tight end in terms of fantasy points. A top-five fantasy matchup for the position with the Lions. And the revenge game factor of Hockenson facing the team that traded him away earlier this season.

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers (vs. TB) (DraftKings DFS Value: $4,300)

There is admittedly an air of uncertainty around all the San Francisco pass-catchers with Brock Purdy now under center. But the matchup for Kittle is solid—the Buccaneers are fourth in PPR points per game allowed to tight ends.

BAD MATCHUPS

Daniel Bellinger, New York Giants (vs. PHI) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,300)

Bellinger only amassed 24 receiving yards in his return to action last week, but his five receptions were a somewhat promising sign in PPR leagues. This week's matchup is a tough one though—the Eagles have allowed the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends this season.

Tyler Conklin, New York Jets (at BUF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,100)

The insertion of Mike White at quarterback has been good news for all the Jets' pass-catchers, and Conklin is no exception. But the Bills are hard for tight ends to score on—26th in PPR points surrendered to the position.

SLEEPER

Ian Thomas, Carolina Panthers (at SEA) (DraftKings DFS Value: $2,700)

If Thomas was a superhero, his power would be invisibility—he has 17 catches for 165 yards for the entire season. If ever there was a week for him to make an appearance in the land of fantasy relevance, it's against a Seahawks team allowing almost 17 PPR points per game a week to tight ends.

I have been writing about fantasy football for well over a decade. I've been playing it for another decade (plus) on top of that. And in all those years, I don't know that I can ever remember a stat line quite like the one the Cleveland Browns defense posted last week in Houston.

That's because the Browns did something against Houston that the team has never done—score three non-offensive touchdowns. There was a punt return by Donovan Peoples-Jones. A fumble return from Denzel Ward. And a pick-six from second-year linebacker Tony Fields.

Add in the points for four takeaways, and you have the biggest single-game fantasy performance of the season among defenses in many fantasy scoring systems. The kind of gaudy score that can swing a matchup.

Don’t go chasing those numbers this week in a bad fantasy matchup against the Bengals. But if you rolled the Browns out as a spot starter in Week 13, feel free to bask in the glow of all those points a bit longer.

GOOD MATCHUPS

Cade York, Cleveland Browns (at CIN)

The only kicker drafted in 2022 has had his moments as a rookie. The last time the Browns faced a Bengals team that has allowed the most fantasy points per game to kickers in 2022, York booted a 55-yard field goal in a lopsided Browns win.

Kansas City Chiefs Defense (at DEN) (DraftKings DFS Value: $3,900)

If you have watched any of the Russell Wilson-led Broncos in action this season, then you know that Denver is absolutely a matchup to target defensively. The Broncos are the lowest-scoring team in the league and rank sixth in fantasy points per game allowed to defenses.

BAD MATCHUPS

Ryan Succop, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at SF)

At times this season, Succop has actually benefitted from Tampa's offensive struggles—stalled drives mean field goal attempts. But struggles are likely coming against the 49ers in San Francisco—no team has allowed fewer fantasy points per game to the position this season.

Denver Broncos Defense (vs. KC) (DraftKings DFS Value: $2,300)

The Broncos defense has done what they can with an untenable situation this season, and to their credit they rank among the top-12 fantasy defenses for the season. But in news that should surprise exactly no one, the Chiefs are a lousy fantasy matchup for defenses.

SLEEPER

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Defense (at SF) (DraftKings DFS Value: $2,900)

There's some risk involved in trusting Tampa this week—the 49ers dropped 33 points on the Dolphins last week, and San Francisco will make an effort to run the ball. But we're talking about an offense run by a seventh-round rookie—growing paints are not just possible but likely.

Before we get to the top 100 players overall for Week 14, it's time for the always popular and universally beloved disclaimer and a bit of friendly advice.

The disclaimer is the same as it always is. There are no quarterbacks included in this list. If you play in a "Superflex" league where a flex spot is QB-eligible, then nine times out of 10 you want one in that spot. Once you get outside the top-20 or so quarterbacks, it's time to consider passing on that position—at least this week.

That's because there are six teams on bye in Week 14—the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders are all off. To say it's not ideal for the NFL to have that many teams off during such a critical week on the fantasy calendar isn't ideal is an understatement and then some. But Roger Goodell won't return my calls.

This week's advice is simple. Whether your playoff seed is already set, you're fighting for a spot or looking to play spoiler, unless you fashion yourself a heavy favorite in a must-win game this is no time to play it safe. From here out you have to assume that you are going to need every point you can get, Don't be afraid to prioritize upside over floor.
